Payment policy
The Children’s Program and Cochlear Implant Program at the California
Ear Institute are collectively known as Let Them HEAR. Let Them HEAR is a non-profit
charitable foundation (Tax ID #02-0630432). As a result, Let them HEAR is not
contracted with any insurance companies. Payment for services rendered is required
at the time of your appointment.
Please let us know if you find yourself in a situation of financial hardship
in covering the cost of these services. We have implemented a sliding scale
of payments for those with lower incomes so that no child or cochlear implant
patient is ever denied services at Let Them HEAR. If you would like to apply
for a discount please complete the sliding
scale application and mail it to the address listed at the top of
the application. For more information about qualifying for this program, please
contact the Patient Support Initiative at (650) 462-3143, before
your next visit.
If you have PPO insurance coverage, we will bill your insurance company on
your behalf and request that the insurance companies reimburse you directly
at their allowable rate for covered services. If you have HMO or Medicare coverage,
your insurance company will not reimburse you for these costs.
Please note: this does not affect medical and surgical services provided by
the physicians at the California Ear Institute, such as treatment of ear infections,
wax removal, surgery and postoperative doctor visits, etc.

Palo Alto Medical Foundation Patients (separate link)
Let Them HEAR began accepting HMO insurance through Palo Alto Medical Foundation
in November 2003. If you have HMO insurance through PAMF, you are responsible
for obtaining authorization prior to your next visit. If Let Them HEAR does
not have an authorization before your visit, you will need to reschedule your
appointment. The authorization must be for services provided by Let Them HEAR
Foundation (Tax ID#02-063 0432), not California Ear Institute. If you have questions
