Evaluation and Therapy Services:
In 2005 a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) joined our organization!  With the addition of this new team member, we are now able to offer a variety of services, including:

  • Comprehensive speech/language evaluations to assess receptive/expressive language skills, oral-motor skills, speech production, listening skills, and spoken language abilities.
  • Speech/language therapy.
  • Auditory training services.
  • Diagnostic therapy in conjunction with cochlear implant programming.

Our SLP specializes in the evaluation and treatment of deaf/hard of hearing individuals who use a variety of communication approaches, including auditory-oral and total communication.  She also has a great deal of experience in evaluating and treating children who present with speech/language delays and impairments unrelated to hearing loss.

Please feel free to contact our office for more information, or to schedule an appointment:  650/462-3143 or appointments@letthemhear.org.

Home Program Ideas:
Sound and Beyond, created by Cochlear, is a self-paced program that allows implant recipients to develop their listening skills in the comfort of their own home!  There are 8 modules included in the program, such as environmental sounds, music appreciation, everyday sentences, etc.Unlike many listening exercises, you don’t need a partner to practice.  This program monitors progress and recommends what skill level should be practiced.  It provides instant feedback regarding performance at the end of each training session or test.  Training sessions remain challenging, as the material for each session is randomly selected from the database.  To learn more about this software, visit:  http://www.cochlearamericas.com/Support/169.asp.
